Grasse FlavourDay

The 2018 #FlavourDay tour stops in Grasse, on the 27th of September. This french city, birthplace of the fragrances and flavour industry in Europe, will host the EFFA General Assembly and Sustainability Conference 2018.

Sustainability is in the flavour industry DNA, we attach a great importance to it, and this conference will be the opportunity to present the flavour initiatives on sustainability, and how the industry is working to respond to consumers and policy makers expectations.

Among our speakers we have representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission and national policy makers, together with consumer insights experts and representatives of the flavour industry.

Join us once more in a #FlavourDay to discover the role of flavourings in the future of food.

Next steps of the #FlavourDay tour:

  • Berlin FlavourDay on the 8th of November 2018 to take a look at the future of nutrition and focus in particular on the topics of sustainability, naturalness, innovation and the reduction of sugar and salt.

Brussels FlavourDay

On June 20th 2017, Brussels became the ’Capital of Flavour’. The event organized by EFFA (the European Flavour Association), together with AROMA (the Belgian Flavour Association) and IOFI (the International Organization of the Flavor Industry) was a success with more than 100 participants. Policy makers, customers and food and drink associations gathered for discussions about the future of food and the role that flavourings plays in key consumer trends. 


The future was one of the key words of the day. Lidewij Edelkoort, one of the world's most famous trend forecasters, inspired the audience with an outlook on consumer trends in food and flavours and how these have an impact on everyday life, highlighting that nowadays, food is even more fashionable than fashion itself. Edelkoort unveiled the main trends for the coming years, noting: “We are witnessing a Revolution of Taste, moving away from sweet to sour, tart and even bitter”. An interactive panel formed by representatives of the European Commission, a consumer research institute and the flavour industry itself, commented on these trends.

This event was the first one organised by the National, European and Global associations together, and will be the first one of many ‘FlavourDays’ around Europe. Next stop, UK. London FlavourDay is on September 21st,  celebrating the 100th anniversary of the UK Flavour Association, followed closely by the Paris Flavour Day on November 16th organised by the French Flavour Association (SNIAA). Also Copenhagen, Berlin, and many more cities are planning similar events…so keep a close eye on the association’s websites.

London FlavourDay

Two months after the Brussels FlavourDay, London welcomed its FlavourDay. The UK Flavour Association (UKFA) marked its centenary with a glittering gala dinner as part of London FlavourDay at Church House in London on the 21st of September. Guests included leading flavour companies, Food & Drink Federation (FDF) representatives and a European delegation from the European Flavour Association (EFFA) gathered to reflect on a century of British flavour innovation and to look forward to what the future might hold for the industry.

Copenhagen FlavourDays

Shortly after followed Copenhagen. On the 5th and 6th of October, the Danish Agriculture & Food Council (DAFC) and the Danish Flavour Organization (DFO) hosted EFFA regulatory meetings, and took the opportunity, under the #Copenhagen_FlavourDays title to introduce the European flavour experts to the flavours and trends of the Nordic cuisine.

Paris FlavourDay

Following the FlavourDays in Brussels (June), London (September) and Copenhagen (October) this year and before the Flavour Days in Istanbul and Berlin in 2018, SNIAA, the French Flavour Association, organised the Paris FlavourDay on November 16th.

With more than 220 participants composed of national and international experts of the food industry (beverages, dairy products, biscuits, spirits, etc.) and the flavour industry, the room was packed to discuss a number of varied and enriching themes.

Michel Joannic, SNIAA Vice-President commented "We are delighted that this day Paris FlavourDay was so successful because it is an opportunity for us to demonstrate to our customers that we want to help them to improve their understanding of flavourings".

Istanbul FlavourDay

The first 2018 stop for the celebration of flavourings tour #FlavourDays was a success. The #Istanbul_FlavourDay took place on the 21st of February 2018, together with the 31th anniversary celebration of AREP, the Turkish Flavour Association.

From Brussels to Istanbul…

With more than 100 attendees, the event was a success. It combined scientific and regulatory presentations with a classic on #FlavourDays: tasting stands where attendees could experience themselves the passion for flavourings.
