The European Flavour Association has joined 27 industry associations in signing a statement supporting the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) to align with the EU Green Deal’s goals while safeguarding business competitiveness and sustainability.
Brussels, 16 October 2024 – As the European Parliament prepares for the confirmation hearings of the new Commissioners, the Open Trade Coalition is reiterating its call for a bold and open EU trade policy. First launched in July, the Coalition has grown into a group of 43 business associations, all of them united by the shared idea that trade openness is a key driver to keep the EU competitive, prosperous, and resilient in the face of global challenges. According to the Coalition, trade openness must therefore become a top priority and veritable leitmotiv for the EU over the next five years.
On Thursday 25th of September, the EFFA General Assembly 2024 took place in Copenhagen, hosted by our Danish member, the Danish Flavour Organisation (DFO). The visit, facilitated by the European Flavour Association (EFFA) and the Spanish Flavour and Fragrance Association (AEFAA), provided a glimpse into the world of flavourings and their impact on the European food industry.
An ambitious project
The European Green Deal was one of the biggest political challenges for the European Commission and its President, Ms Von Der Leyen. Back in 2019 when the new Commission started its work, the idea was to tackle climate change and environmental degradation by encouraging the switch to a more sustainable and resilient European industry in all its sectors, with the objectives for 2050 set by the Paris Agreement of 2015
On September 28, the European Flavour Association (EFFA) conducted its General Assembly 2023 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, transitioning from the hybrid format of previous years to an all in-person gathering. Company Members and National Associations convened to review the progress made over the year.
EFFA is thrilled to announce that our Flavour of Europe is now also a cocktail, adding one more twist to this captivating project. The Flavour of Europe, which represents the diverse tastes and traditions of Europe, has found its perfect companion in a Gin recipe that holds a rich family heritage dating back to 1838. Following current trends, we have also developed a non-alcoholic version of the drink.
The European Flavour Association (EFFA) has joined forces with other food and drink associations in signing a letter to the European Commission regarding the Sustainability of Food System Framework Initiative (SFSF).
On 30 November 2022, EFFA hosted a webinar for its membership on the EU Green Deal and its impact for the flavour industry. The event saw also the participation as guest of Sebastian Emig, Executive Director and Olivier Devaux, Senior Public Affairs & Communications Manager of the European Snacks Association (ESA). Mr Emig provided a presentation over the effects of the Green Deal on the snacks industry.
